wowza

ICANNOT believe that it is actually almost Christmas- I already gave Joe all his presents including a new wedding band which he LURVES..his gifts to me were I wanted all my blinds cleaned and I wanted him to go to yoga with me once :) he did and it was nice. He is on leave and we have been to Borders about 50 ish times this week- we are a family of readers which I think is awesome!! I also don't think I have ever drank so much Starbux in all my life-it's actually been cold here and it rained yes I said it, rained!! The kids had their play finally and it was cute - they both looked adorable and rehearsal for the next one starts next month - yes we are crazy. We took the kids to get haircuts because Sawyer was looking a bit to 1981 for me- They are BOTH out of school for a month- they had class parties and made ornaments and the whole shebang. We ae having a cake for Sachyls bday tomorrow ( the 22nd) and then taking her to Seaworld because Joe leaves ON her real birthday:( I am not looking forward to taking down all my decorations but I know it must happen and life goes on.....if only it could be Christmas even longer. There is nothing but birthdays coming at us (Sachyl on the 7th, Devyn on the 10th and mine on the 19th) those hopefully will keep us busy because I am NOT prepared for Joe to be gone for 6-9 months. Merry Christmas to everyone and a healthy Happy New Year:)

More Pix from December Blog :)

December

Ok we got thru Thanksgiving- and didn't puke. I made a turkey...Holler. It was not dry and I made gravy alls bys myselves. We had Vicky and her family over and Joe had a guy from his ship come too....much pie- much wine- a few games of Scrabble and a viewing of Fred Claus made the day complete:) The kids, ate nothing......except pie of course.
That Saturday was the Kids Christmas Party for the Boxer- it was at the bowling alley on base- we played with another guy from Joes ship and his wife and 4 year old daughter. Sachyl won. I lost. Bigtime. Now Joe is hooked and went on his duty day and bowled. I smell another Ernie McCracken. (Kingpin) so after the fun filled day of pizza and bowling..(BTW my kids hate cotton candy- yay but weird.) We debated going east and cutting down a tree in the 73 degree weather or just going to Starbux and getting Coffee/Hot Chocolate a la Devyn and then hightailing it to Walmart and getting a tree there. We decided on the latter. So up the tree and all our decorations went and we still had time to relax. Joe had to get up at 4 am the next morning to go BACK to work. Again.
Thank God Monday rolled around and the kids went back to school and by kids I mean Sawyer-
The whole school had a Holiday Singing Show on Tuesday that was so cute but waaay too crowded. The Kinders went first and sang a bunch of songs- 2 Jewish and the rest " Winter" - no Christmas....?????......... But I will show them, for Teacher Treat Day this month I am bringing in a Christmas Tree:) Dare me?
There has been only one incident in the past month and that was sawyer completely split the muscle that connects the top lip to the gum above the front teeth. It was disgusting and bloody but not serious- TTYL

Almost T DAY

I always feel when I sit down to blog that I have nothing to write...but I am always thinking during the day " Ohh I  have to put this in my blog!" weird!!
Joe finally came home on Friday after being gone 3 weeks- it was perfect because he came home, showered and was just in time for Sawyers Family Reading time in his class- it is so amazing to see your baby just stat reading!! On another note, Devyn is having some of her poetry published in the school paper- THAT is awesome.
The kids are over joyed to be spending time with Joe- we also on that Friday went to his Holiday Party for his ship- it was at the Sheraton on the Bay by the airport- it was really fun. We took the kids and they stayed in one of the meeting rooms with a bunch of other kids. The ship had hired Munchkin Minders which is a group of nannies. They played video games and had a bouncy  thing and did crafts and watched movies....Sachyl also peed the nap time mat:) They thought they had a night out on the town!
I, on Wed. went to the midnight showing of Twilight!!!! I had not read the book but my friend Vicky has been obsessed and was always making me watch interviews and look at pictures of Robert Pattinson and I was just not impressed BUT OMG that first scene of him!! His charectar!! wowza! I thought I was hooked on Mr. Bill Compton the Vampire but make room for Edward Cullen!!  Great romantic /fantasy movie   PG version of Trueblood.    Now  am reading the second book and I am officially a Twilighter...I tried to fight it but I can't.......
Joe leaves again for the first 2 weeks of December and then will get to spend Christmas with us so YAY!!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving and be safe!!!!

We have been fairly boring lately- I am not sure if I mentioned that we leave a half hour earlier now to go to school so Sawyer can eat breakfast there- He loves to sit with Eduardo  who he calls Eggardo???? And he got busted in the boys bathroom waiving his junk around with Guillermo (who he calls Gearmo). I guess that's a boy thing, I have no idea so I just tell him not to and stay away from it:) Leaving early is nice because me and Vicky started walking right after or I do a spinning class on Weds. at 8:45 (Um ouch by the way- I needed an epidural after) so I get all exercising out of the way bright and early!   Sachyl had to go to the dentist because she was standing on Sawyers bed and fell and whacked her face on his windowsill luckily her tooth wasn't loose but he said it could turn brown (I may have fainted at that point)  it is still white- phwew!
Ms. Devyn HAD to go to Hawaii for a week to visit her Dad and grandparents poor poor girl.....she had fun bleeding him dry shopping and swimming etc...they got to see Cirque Du Soleil (sp) that was her second time (she is so cultured:)  ) AAAAAAAAAnd he let her drive all over the place (idiot JUST KIDDING!!!!).
Sawyer got an award at school for "using his knowledge of letter sounds" they have a Flag assembly every other Friday and they announce the awards which they all end up getting by the end of the year. I usually go to every assembly but I wasn't able to go to that one. I was bummed but his teacher took pictures for me.
Last night Sawyer went to the Sock Hop at our regular church. Once again Sachyl was peeved because it was Kinder- 5th grade. On the way she took off her seatbelt while we were still driving so Sawyer said  "Sachyl hold my hand. Hold it tight.  I will hold onto you." Like he could prevent her from going through the window in the event of an accident BUT it was so sweet and adorable how they love each other........anywho when we got there I just sort of hung out so Sachyl just sort of hung out and got to do everything he did including having hot dogs and root beer floats- hoola hoop contesting- tricycle races and of course Air Band. They had F.U.N.   I will end with this - I am almost done with my Christmas shopping and YOU'RE NOT!! HA!
ps I added a picture from when Sachyl had her hurt neck and of them sleeping in their funky hats my mom brought them- just because they're cute.

Kids say the oddest things....

Out of nowhere today as we are driving home from school this is what Sawyer says....
" You can't take a baby in space because it can't fit in the outfit and it would fall out of the helmet so it would die. So a rocket ship , NO.  You can take one in an airplane though and if you are parachuting you can just hook the baby to you when you are jumping.." Then he yells out the window to his friend " HI ABRAHAM!!" and Sachyl goes " HI Hemaham!!"
Good Times:)

Halloween

I can't believe it is actually November and so close to the Holidays- I love it!! We carved 2 pumpkins on wed- just me and the kids- Sachyl was finally brave enough to stick her hands in and pull out some pumpkin guts- I had seasonal music on for them to dance around to while I did the carving- ( Thriller, Addams Family etc) . Thursday nana came and we went to see Sachyl at her costume party at school, there were a lot of Princesses.....Friday Sawyer had a costume parade at his school, it was pretty fun to see all the kids K-5th grade dressed up and the teachers really got into the spirit too. Halloween is Sawyers teachers birthday as well so I brought in cupcakes and balloons- the kids liked that part. We did some trick or treating and I think Sachyl got tired out pretty early since all that day we were outside and it was about 85 degrees!! I dressed up too and was walking around the 'hood in heels so I was ready to call it night as well. NOT Spongebob- he could have treated all night-
Saturday, Sawyer had another football game it was nice that Nana was able to see it even though it was million degrees again and then at 4:30 am Sachyl woke up with severe neck pain. It was almost unbearable to watch her be so miserable so I took her in to the ER and luckily she responded to the pain medication and didn't have to have a lumbar puncture - it turned out to be a muscle spasm so she is back to her cute self today:)
It is actually raining and cold and she and I waited in the "rain" , ( I quote since it is more of a sprinkle than a rain) and voted:)
HAPPY FALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't expect any NFL draft picks from our family....

Sawyer had his first Flag Football game and it seems that all the boys were just so interested in their rubber mouthpieces - they were taking them out constantly , looking at them , dropping them in the grass ......and the dirt. Putting them back in their mouths......Sawyer tries really hard to block his opponent but he is trying so hard he loses sight of where the ball is and that he should be running to where the ball is to grab a flag.
Enjoy the video of him being the running back ( I think, I don't know anything about football) but I know he was supposed to take it when it is being passed to him and run but when he saw all the kids that were running toward him he said NOPE! and took off- sans ball.

Sachyls Fun Weekend

Sachaboo went to her friend Tori's Baptism this weekend. She watched the three kids that were being Baptized get the Holy Water poured on their foreheads and I said Sachyl do u want to be Baptized ? And she got scared.  After ward the Priest asked if we wanted to bring anything up to the alter to be blessed so I asked if I could bring Sachyl....he blessed her :) She got to go to the after "party" at Tori's and she played her face off with all the other kids and then when we got home Daddy had people over to watch Football and one guy brought his 3 year old daughter so she played some more...... Poor Sawyer no one has any boys his age:( Here are some pix of Sachyl at 2 birthday parties. She is a social butterfly.

I helped out with Sawyers class doing some Fall painting with each student individually. It is hilarious to sit and talk to 20 5 year olds....they are so funny and different. Don't forget people to mail me all your boxtop labels!!!! We just made around $600 for the school just since the beginning of they year!! If you are not sure what I am talking about go to www.boxtops4education.com  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE they are worth .10 each so don't throw them out!!

Fall

We have had a full week keeping busy while Joe is out to sea....there is a bad fire on Camp P pretty close to where our old house was so we are anxiously waiting to see if anything catches fire out here......not that I want a fire but Joe would get to come home. I had a Bunco party on Saturday but only 8 people showed up- it was ok because we had great food- wine -company. We ended up playing Crack the Case instead. Good Times.
Sachyl is still in Tap and Sawyer seems to really enjoy his Flag Football more than baseball. Oh well maybe when he is older.......Devyn was elected into class Senate so that is a positive. I can't really get a lot of info from her, otherwise I would share more:).
We got some pumpkins and the kids put Mr. Potato Head like faces on them and then we went to The Fall Festival that our housing company puts on and they got another one and played a few games......I still want to take them to a real pumpkin patch, not the kind off the freeway but one you have to actually drive inland to get to and maybe hit up Seaworld again. We have A LOT to do in the short time that Joe will be home so hopefully we can accomplish triple fun time in 2 weeks :)

nuthin much

Sachyl started tap- it was one of the cutest things I have ever seen- Sawyer hates school...j/k he hates Kindergarten because he doesn't like going to bed early or having to turn off the t.v in the morning to leave for school.  Now when he gets in trouble he says  "stupid family" and last night he said "Little sucker mommy!" The next time u see him he may be missing teeth..........we are working on his use of words.
When the kids were in the Summer Reading Program at the library they earned free admission to the Science Center 's Animal Grossology exhibit so we took them there on Sunday and then walked around part of Balboa Park- it was a nice day and we all had fun-ENJOY!!  PS Joe is gone for 10 days :) and it's biz as usual for me and Devs......... BORING!

update

I don't feel like there is a lot to blog about even though I have been uber busy. Sawyer had back to School Night and they both had their second rehearsal for the Christmas play. They also started the new semester of Childrens church at Canyon View- I am waiting for a small group to sign up for since mine was cancelled. :(  Joe and I took them last week and there was a man in the sanctuary who was trying to unload a kitten- of course we said NO way man!! Then I heard him say he lived in his car so we took it- her name is Cuddles Ivy Batman Alley and she is Super cool and loving and she actually plays!! Not like our other 2 pointless cats....anyway if my mom sees this she will be P.O.'d but I promise on my honor I will never ask her to take another animal EVER!  (I love u nanny)
Ahem........ Devyn starts night school today  evidently night is 2:45- 5...but she has to make up her grades to graduate. She won't be able to work so much and she has had a taste of an income so she is a bit bummed....she made her bed and now she must lie in it.....lesson learned ....we hope :)

I plan to sign Sawyer up for Flag Footbal this weekend and Sachyl for Tap. She is not pleased but she has to try it and then make up her mind what she likes and dislikes.  As for my big butt- I started walking 2 miles on Mondays with a walking group. I also started back Yoga and World Dance ( soooo totally cool!!) Vicky is dragging me to Pilates tomorrow......... We had a double garage sale this weekend and only made about $80 , that just makes me want to have another every weekend until I get rid of all our crap but Sachyl has a birthday party next weekend and then we have 2 other things going on that are none of your beeswax :)
As far as Joe goes, we went out to dinner the other night at a really nice Italian joint. Vicky offered to take our kids to the pool and then she watched them after. She made fun of me because she knew I would be nervous about them in the pool and then she gave them popcorn, which scares me. I love when my friends laugh at my weirdness   NOT!  Oh Joe. right.  Well he was sick all weekend and he had to go to work today and I don't think he feels any better...poor guy. :( He will be gone from Oct. 6-16 and Oct. 28-Nov.25 and two weeks in Dec. AND then deploys the first week of January.........we can't WAIT for shore duty!!!!!!!!

Drama

The kids just had their first day in the Kings Kids drama program at the Baptist church here in town. It is for 5-12 year olds but they said Sachyl could be in it if I wanted to stay ....so I did-it's every Sunday from 5:45-7:30. They will be learning songs and a play that they will perform for Christmas. Some of the songs they will be singing at the Harvest Festival on Halloween.  It was really cute and they already "learned ' 5 songs, as did I - they get to do crafts and have snack and play etc....this Church must have lots of money and they are very well organized- they all got a cd to take home with the songs and a folder with activities and a t shirt. They get points for showing up and wearing their shirts and learning the songs and doing the activities. Then they get to "cash in" the points at a Christmas Store to buy things- I think it will be fun helping out because I know the final product will be great. When we were walking into the church I was asking Sawyer what part he might want to audition for ( the play is about orphans at Christmas) and he said "Maybe I can be Santa"  and since he is one of the younger ones I said " Well maybe you can be baby Jesus." to which he replied " INSERT KIDS SAY THE FUNNIEST THINGS PT.3 HERE " I'm not a big fan of  Jesus.......but I would be happy playing Santa or an Orphan."   he says this AS we are walking into Church mind you. I know he didn't mean it how it sounded but it was pretty funny- "I'm not a big fan of Jesus" ....who says that ??

Kids Say The Craziest Things...Pt.2

We were sitting in the barber shop waiting for our turn ( Me and Sawyer) and he was on my lap and let one rip! I was shocked because he never really does that and he was surprised too so I said " Sawyer did you fart?"  and he nodded, all embarrassed and then got a really serious look on his face and said " It sounded like a light saber anyways"...........????

A few days ago Sawyer and Sachyl were playing with one of their female friends and as kids will do they played "doctor" briefly....well of course I couldn't get a straight answer out of the two older ones  as to who started it , not that it matters, so finally I said  'Sawyer I 'm not mad and you aren't  in trouble but did you ask or did she offer?"
He replied with " umm well she offered and I said YES....I'm sorry. "
TYPICAL BOY!

Kids say the CUTEST things

Joe goes to bed fairly early and he usually takes Sachyl upstairs with him so she can watch Noggin and he reads.....he was talking to her and saying "Sachyl do u know that u r very special and I love you? Do u know what special means?" and she replied "No." so he said " It means that u r the only one in the world like you, there is only one you and thats why Daddy loves you. Do you understand now?"  Sachyl said " Yes, it means I am the only Fathead." :)

1st day of school

Sawyer started Kindergarten on Tuesday and we (the parents) can walk them to their line and when the teacher comes it's adios amigos.....my son however didn't want to kiss me goodbye. I really didn't think that would start quite so early but whatever....I was a little bummed. We walk to and from school and the latter has sucked! It is so stinking hot I can barely make it home. I was using the double stroller but forget it. Anywho, enough about me. When joe and I picked him up on his first day his first words were; "It's boring kinda...and we don't get to play on the playground very long" Welcome to school!! He had an issue with some kid that he says got in a fight with him. His napkin blew on the ground and the kid called him a litterbug and he called him a litterbug and somehow his yogurt exploded and he says the kid did it while saying " I hate Spiderman."  ?????????????????? I asked him who he hung out with in class and he said one of the kids with fuzzy hair. Interestingly enough, there are  2 maybe three kids that do in fact have fuzzy hair. They get out at 12:15 on Thursdays so I picked him up and he and Sachyl and I ate in the cafeteria.......it was ....different. I need to come to terms with athe fact that I can't be with him everyday, all day to make sure he is wiping his face or washing his hands or even putting his straw in his milk. We will all survive I am sure.
The video is of him not being impressed with what I packed him Wed. until he found the pudding :)

Summers Winding Down....

I am so happy that Summer is almost over! It is tooo hot and as Sachyl would say "So bo-wing". Sachyl has been bummed that sh hasn't been able to do all the things that Sawyer can do simply because she is only 3 so when I saw that the chapel here in base housing was having a Vacation Bible School for all ages I asked her if she was interested. She was- she went all week and had so much fun- Sawyer was so over it because he has already been twice this Summer so it was nice to see her enjoy something all her own. We had a ton of fun at our friend Maizys 6th b-day and last night we went to Family Game Night hosted by Lincoln Military Housing. Joe ended up not going because he was just recently cleared to play sports again since his December knee surgery, and went to play baseball for his ship. I was completely fine with that since at least he was out of the house and doing something I know he loves.. Yes u guessed it, he came home injured.......dislocated finger but he is playing again tonight....THEN he will go to the doctor tomorrow........anyhoooooo- at game night the kids played Ms. Pacman, Galaga, Space Invaders all the junk I used to play in junior high and YES I still have it!! We also played Trouble- Crazy 8's and Monopoly jr. They got bored quick and wanted to move on to what was next.
Sawyers K orientation is Friday and I have been instructed by my neighbor Vicky that I HAVE to join PTA so I guess I will be a PTA mom now...I feel guilty that I never joined when Devyn was little but as I look back, I really couldn't- I did work u know...but I did volunteer to help in the library at the High School this year. I have to have her go out with a bang!! Sachyl , we decided should stay at her Tiny Tots and not move her to TLC pre-school- Its a huge savings financially and she loves it where she is. Plus she is 3. Not a whole lot of difference at all between the two schools really........I have also decided that on top of cutting out caffeine which I have been caffeine free for almost 2 months now that I will make fruit smoothies and and try to eat really healthy now- I even nixed the de-caf- seriously, watch You Are What You Eat on BBC America and it will change the way anyone looks at food. That is my helpful hint for the day :) ENJOY
